or is it more a case of “Utah vs. Free Speech and Capitalism”? The gist of the situation (click the link below to read the article), is that Utah heavy hitters: Overstock.com and 1-800-contacts, are upset that a consumer doing a search for their company on Google are allowed to see a competitors ad. This law is bound to become a lawsuit, heck, even our friends at Unspam agree it will.
I personally find this to be a slippery slope for consumers. Isn’t it the fundamental right of a consumer to be able to price shop? To compare companies for whatever a consumer finds valuable and do business with the company of their choosing?
Then comes the biggest question: Are we going to pass a similar law for the Yellow Pages?

We’ve been blogging at blog.twelvehorses.com for a while now, but as we promote the Salt Lake City office more as a hub for professional services work, we wanted to create a blog/site local to SLC.
In the past, the SLC office has been purely an engineering office. All programming regarding MessageMaker is done in this office. However, since we have the space and the expertise, there is no reason not to offer website design and development for the Salt Lake City community. Our intent is to hire local developers and designers and start offering our award winning services in SLC.
So this blog will be about SLC and Twelve Horses’ work and involvement here. We have started by getting involved in the Utah Tech Spotlight and the Utah Technology Council. I think you will find that we are avid social networkers and you’ll be seeing more of us around.
I’ve met a few of you. Currently, I work out of the Reno office but will be moving to Phoenix to open an office there. You will probably see me in town for events, but I’m hoping that 99.99% of the blog posts at http://saltlakecity.twelvehorses.com will be coming from local Twelve Horses’ employees. Steve Spencer has already been blogging over at the Utah Tech Spotlight, so I may have to recruit and train others so there might be a transition time. Anyway, enough with the boring details.

This morning, as a stream of Twitters went flying through my IM client, I noticed that Phil801 had mentioned a live video feed. I saw a few of the SLC Twitter crew comment on the quality, so I clicked through to check it out. Apparently, Phil801 had helped setup a Politic 2.0 and was broadcasting a live video feed conversation with Congressman Chris Cannon. Immediately upon viewing, I recognized the shape of a bald head sitting front and center:

I continued watching to confirm my suspicion when I caught this:

Yup. It was none other than our own Steve Spencer, President of Twelve Horses. Weird how Twitter led me to Steve. I’m not sure if this is the power of online social networking or just working to make the world even smaller.
